Today it was revealed that Battlefield 5 had accidentally started development after the team at Danger Close wrapped up Medal of Honor: Warfighter and were told to move onto the next realistic FPS. Due to a mix up of memos and some confusion as to how the cycle worked the team started work on the next big Battlefield game.
“We got confused, we thought it was our turn to make the game people actually wanted,” said a spokesman over Skype to me because I’m a big shot with developers on Skype. “It’s been a real pain; we’ve had to completely redesign our logo and change it to Medal of Honor: Bulletshooter.” When asked what else had changed the developer said “I think maybe some guns got re-skinned and the menus changed their text… erm… oh and we had to remove the orange filter and replace it with a grey one. Everything is grey in it.”
EA has expressed anger at the developer, suggesting it may lay off a few workers “just to wake them up a bit”. Battlefield 5 apparently hit 50% of its development cycle before being corrected, with around half of the levels already designed and the story having been “considered a bit”. “Very few people realise how easy it is to re-skin a Call of Duty game. We just take whole levels and switch up the lighting and architecture. You know that sniper level from Call of Duty 4? We’ve used that, like, 5 times in the past 3 years.” In other news EA has announced the next DLC for Battlefield 3 will feature a sniping section.
